The Swim
The clock does not stop during change-overs and no assistance is permitted during any part of the triathlon.
n Present yourself 10 min before your start time (see lists) in the waiting area at the shallow end of the pool and wait to be called.
n Follow the instructions of the pool side marshals in respect of lane, swim hat(provided) and start-time.
n The following are not allowed: Swimming aids (except goggles and nose clips). Wet-suits. Diving start. Backstroke or butterfly.
n All competitors swim 16 lengths - 400 metres. At the start of your last 2 lengths a board will be put in the water to signal your last lap.
n Overtaking is allowed in the middle of the lane, alternatively you may touch the preceding swimmer on the foot and he or she is compelled to let you overtake at the end of that length.
n After swimming 16 lengths you exit the pool, hand your swim cap to the marshal, and make for the transition area. (Blue door in the corner of the pool, where you get out. Make sure you call out your race number to the marshals outside the door for the split time recording. No number no split!
n Collect your bike, etc., from the transition area. No nudity allowed in the transition area. Any kit not needed can be left in the bike transition area (the bike racks will be marked with your race number). You must fasten your helmet before you take your bike!!
n Make your way to the road where you can mount your bike. Do not start cycling before!
- If you think you may have done to many lengths please speak to the race referee after the race. Do not discuss your case with pool side officials.
